When choosing clothing for men, it is important to make sure that you are purchasing the correct size. Many men do not know their exact size and here are some guidelines to ensure accurate measurements.

Here are some tips for measuring for your shirt size. When measuring the chest area, place the tape measure around the fullest part of your chest. Don’t pull the tape too tightly, comfortably snug is fine, the reading in inches is your shirt size. For waist measurements, place the tape measure around your natural waist; the inch reading is your size. When measuring sleeve length, raise one arm level with your shoulder. Place the tape at “middle back” the area between your neck and shoulder blades, measure from “middle back around your elbow (of lifted arm) and add one inch past your wrist. This measurement is your sleeve length. To measure your neck, measure around your neck to where your shirt collar would be, the number of inches is your shirt size. Men’s shirt sizes are as follows: sizes Small are for chests measuring 37-39”; necks measuring 14-14 ½”; and sleeve lengths of 32-34”; sizes Medium are for chests measuring 40-42”; necks measuring 15-15 ½”; and for sleeve lengths of 33-34”; sizes Large are for chests measuring 43-45”; necks measuring 16-16 ½”; and for sleeve lengths of 34-35”; Sizes X Large are for chests measuring 46-48”; necks measuring 17-17 ½”; and for sleeve lengths of 35-36”; Sizes XX Large are for chests measuring 49-51”; necks measuring 18-19 ½”; and for sleeve lengths of 36-37”; sizes XXX Large are for chests measuring 52-54”; necks measuring 18-20”; and for sleeve lengths of 36-37”.
Men’s Regular are for heights 5’8-5’11 ½”; Men’s Tall are for heights 6’-6’3 ½”; Men’s Extra Tall are for heights 6’4-6’7”.
Abbreviations for the above sizes are as follows: Regular- S, M, L, XL, XXL; Tall- MT, LT, XLT, and XXLT; Extra Tall- LXT, XLXT, 2XLXT, and 3XLXT.
Plus Sizes for men include Big Regular and Big Tall. The abbreviations for these two sizes are as follows: Big Regular- 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, and 5XL and Big Tall- 2XLT, 3XLT, 4XLT, and 5XLT.
