Maternity Clothing
Congratulations! You are pregnant. The next nine months will bring many changes. Not only is your baby growing by leaps and bounds, but your belly is growing as well. Today’s maternity clothes have a lot to offer in fashion, style, and comfort. If this is your first baby, you may be dismayed to discover that you won’t actually “show” for about five months. If however, this is your second or third pregnancy you may be dismayed to discover that you show much quicker than your first pregnancy. Some women find they need maternity clothes at just two months with subsequent babies. Many of today’s hot fashion styles have been converted into maternity clothes. Stores such as the Gap, Old Navy, and Land’s End have maternity departments.
There are now many stores that meet the needs of the plus sized pregnant woman. JC Penney’s Plus Size Maternity section ranges in Misses and Women’s sizes from 1X – 4X. There are many choices available for the plus size woman to find maternity clothing that are hip, chic, and flattering.
Where to buy Maternity Clothes
Many stores cater only to the pregnant clientele. Stores such as: Motherhood Maternity, Mimi Maternity, and a Pea in the Pod have quickly become favorites of pregnant moms across the country.
Maternity clothing isn’t all about dressing hip and chic on the outside. Much of it is wearing the proper support underneath your clothes.
Maternity girdles can contain support panels that provide relief for pregnant backs. But if girdles are not your style, you can even find maternity thongs to fit your needs.
During pregnancy, weight gain will take a toll on your breasts, and a good support bra is important. Many maternity bras serve a dual purpose. They are created for wear during pregnancy then double as a nursing bra for breastfeeding. Many of these bras accommodate changes in your growing breasts.
The newest undergarment in Maternity clothing would have to be the “Belly Bra”. This is a bra that comes down over your belly and ends at your waist. It lifts your belly up off of the pelvis and gently pulls the shoulders back, providing relief from tense back muscles.
Maternity clothing doesn’t have to be drab, plain, or the equivalent of a circus tent! Maternity clothing can be beautiful, sexy, hip, and best of all, comfortable!
