Junior Clothing
You heard it from Britney Spears, “I’m not a girl; Not yet a woman,” well then, you and many of your teenage counterparts (both male and female) are juniors. And the junior clothing department is where you will find them shopping for the latest trends in fashion and style.
Most clothing departments have a “junior” section. Junior sizes may be a bit tricky because your junior may still fit into some “girl” clothes and still fit into some smaller “women’s” clothing. The best way to achieve accuracy when choosing clothing is to go by measurement and not just label numbers. If you or your junior has their measurements, you can compare their measurements with the sizes of the clothing label and have a more accurate fit.
Remember, when taking measurements to hold the tape measurer loosely, not snug, and take measurements at the fullest parts across the chest, natural waist, and hips.
Many junior sizes are as follows: Extra Small is the equivalent of sizes1 and 2, Small is the equivalent of sizes 3, 4,5,and 6, Medium is the equivalent of size 8, Large is the equivalent of sizes 10 and 12, Extra Large is the equivalent of size 14, and Extra-Extra Large is the equivalent of size 16. Again, the best way to choose clothing is to base your teen’s measurements against the size guide provided by the clothes designer.

There are many stores today that cater solely to juniors, and these stores have quickly become favorites. Stores such as Alloy, Rave, Abercrombie and Fitch, The Gap, Wal-Mart, Target, Old Navy, Delia’s, and TJ Max have popular junior departments.
It is a proven fact that Americans are more obese then ever before, and this crisis has not escaped our youth. Today, there is a growing need for Plus Size teen clothing. Teen years are a time for discovering self-identity, self-worth, and self-image concepts play an important role during these years. There are many Plus Size junior clothing departments of these stores, that will help the larger framed teen feel hip, chic, and dress with self confidence.
