Childrens Clothing

One thing is for sure- kids are tough on clothes! When it comes to choosing clothes for children one word comes to mind- durability. Children grow faster than weeds in a Carolina Pine forest; so make sure that the clothes you buy for your children will give you the best use for your dollar.

Once they leave the baby and toddler stages, children begin to enter new sizes. Starting with size 4 and running to size 16. Don’t confuse size 4 with 4T however, the “T” stands for toddlers and the size 4T is smaller than size 4.

Here is a guideline for buying children’s clothing according to size.

Size 4 is for children weighing 35-39 lbs. and who are 39” tall. Size 5 is for children weighing 37-41lbs. and who are 42” tall. Size 6 is for children who weigh between 40 and 45 lbs. and who are 45” tall. Size 6x is for children who weigh between 40-51 lbs. and who are 47” tall. Size 7 is for children weighing 60lbs. and who are 49”tall. Size 8 is for children weighing 66lbs. and who are 52” tall. Size 9 is for children who weigh 70lbs. and who are 53” tall. Size 10 is for children who weigh 74lbs. and are 55 “ tall. Size 11 is for children weighing 80 lbs. and who are 57” tall. Size 12 is for children who weigh 84lbs. and are 58”tall. Size 14 is for children weighing 96 lbs. and who are 60” tall. And size 16 is for children who weigh 100lbs. and are 62” tall.

You may be surprised to see your children grow through 1-3 sizes in a year or two, if they have growth spurts, especially when they enter puberty. Puberty can hit between the ages of 8 and 13 for girls and the ages of 10-15 in boys.

Because of the rate and speed in which children grow, it is very important to buy clothes that will endure.
