More information and history on bras.
Here is the standardized technique for determining your true bra size.
First you need to determine your “frame” size. This is the area directly below your breasts. Measure the diameter of this frame area. Make sure that your arms are down and your shoulders are relaxed. Take this number and round up to the nearest whole number. This number is your “frame” size or the “inch” part of your bra size. The next step is to determine your bra or breast size. This is the fullest part of your breasts and you should wear a comfortable bra when taking this measurement. After obtaining this measurement, subtract the number of your breast size from the number of your frame size. Your bra cup is determined by the difference- for instance, a difference between 0-½” = an AA cup; ½ - 1”= an A cup; 1- 2½ ” = a B cup; 2 ½” –3½” = a C cup, 3½”-4 ½”= a D cup, 4½”-6”= a DD or an E cup, 6-7”= a DDD or an F cup, 7-8”= a G cup.
